What's the difference between Mirramail and Mirracrypt-for-Outlook ?
Mirramail and "Mirracrypt - Encryption for Outlook" both provide
secure Sender-to-Receiver encryption using industry standard 256-bit AES encryption.
Mirramail is a stand-alone, fully featured Email
program that can be used to replace Outlook or Outlook Express. Mirramail
implements our Simple Encryption Architecture for sending secure Email and also
includes an integrated Contact manager and Appointment Scheduler. Mirramail
can also decrypt messages received by Outlook, Outlook Express and most other email
clients.
Mirracrypt is not an Email program but an add-in that integrates
seamlessly with Outlook 2003 & 2007 to provide powerful Sender-to-Receiver Email
Encryption that is convenient and easy-to-use. Mirracrypt is the perfect add-on
program for any Outlook user who requires confidential and secure Email communications.
Simply select the Encryption required and click the "Send" button.

What's the problem with ordinary Email - why isn't
it secure ?
Ordinary Email is a great way to communicate but it is
NOT secure. Most people assume that when
they send an Email it is delivered directly to the intended receiver. Unfortunately,
this is not the case. When you send Email it travels via numerous routers and servers
and, in transit, may be stored at one or more locations. Your message can be easily
retrieved and read by a third party without your consent or knowledge.
However, sending Email securely is not only possible - it's easy
with Mirramail.

Can I continue to use Outlook™ or Outlook Express™ as my main email program
?
Yes, you can continue to use Outlook or Outlook Express as your main email program.
Mirramail can decrypt messages received by Outlook, Outlook Express and any MAPI compliant email program. After decryption, the message is automatically updated
in Outlook in its decrypted form. A copy is also added to the Mirramal message
store, which is encrypted and can only be accessed by the authorized Mirramail user.
However, to get the most from the
security features offered by Mirramail, many clients
prefer to change from Outlook or Outlook Express and use Mirramail as their preferred
email program. It is easy to change to Mirramail without losing the messages
and contacts stored in Outlook or Outlook Express by using the Import function in
Mirramail. The Import feature allows you to import your messages or contacts
so you can immediately benefit from the enhanced local security provided by Mirramail.

Is my current Email compatible with Mirramail

Mirramail
works like many other email programs, such as Outlook™ or Outlook Express™ for sending
and receiving messages. But Mirramail can just as easily send a message, including
any attachments, encrypted with 256-bit AES encryption. The key used to encrypt
the message can be provided by the Mirramail key server or a password provided by
the sender.

What is Encryption ?
With regard to digital data, encryption is a process of scrambling data by using
a mathematical algorithm with an encryption key. To decrypt or un-scramble
the data you require the identical key and algorithm.
The strength of encryption is dependent on two factors: the robustness of the algorithm
and length of the encryption key. Mirramail uses the
AES encryption algorithm
which is the standard adopted by the U.S. Government.
AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) can use either a 128-bit, 192-bit or 256-bit
key length. Mirramail uses AES encryption with a 256-bit key.

Do I need special software to use Mirramail ?
Any Email you send or receive using Mirramail is encrypted or decrypted
on your own computer. This ensures end-to-end security as the only files transmitted
are fully encrypted before they are sent through your Mail Server. To facilitate
the encryption process you therefore need to install the Mirramail
software. While Mirramail works just like other Email programs, the messages
you store are secured in a database with the details of each message encrypted with
a key that is generated by the password you provide so that only you can access
your stored messages.

Do I need an Internet connection to use Mirramail ?
You can compose your Email and any attachments off-line but to encrypt and send
your Email you need to be connected to the Internet.

Do I need to exchange special passwords or public encryption keys with
the recipient of my encrypted Email ?
There are two ways to encrypt a message using Mirramail. One method uses a
password that you provide when you send a message. Therefore, the recipient
must use the same password to decrypt the message. The other method uses the
Mirrasoft key service, which automatically provides the encryption key, which is
unique to the recipient and can only be accessed by the recipient.
One of the key benefits of the MirraCrypt service is the seamless implementation
of the encryption and decryption process - you just simply click the to "Send -
Secret Key Secured" button.

Can I send anyone a Mirramail encrypted
Email ?
If you send an encrypted Email to someone who is not a registered
Mirramail user they will receive the Email but will not be able
to decrypt your message. However, the short message from Mirramail
that accompanies your email explains how to download our free software
and register on-line. Once registered they will be able to decrypt your Email and
any file attachments.
We offer a trial period for all new users and ongoing access for
decrypting messages continues after the trial period ends. Mirramail
should be compatible with most 32-bit Windows operating systems. Please refer
to system requirements for more details.

Our company has many Email users. Is it possible
to have one account for multiple users and can we maintain our own user information
?
Mirramail
is ideal for companies or organisations that require encrypted Email for a large
number of users. There is also the flexibility to maintain the data relating to
your registered Mirramail users so you can easily add or remove
user access as required.
Apart from employees, you can also register clients or other parties
as Mirramail users. This is ideal for a law practice that would like to provide
secure communications to their clients for a short period. When access to
Mirramail is no longer required by the client, the registration can be easily transferred
to another client or staff member.

^
Will I still be able to encrypt and decrypt my Email
if I change my Email address ?
The encryption keys provided by the Mirrasoft key service are
unique for each email, but if you change your email address you can easily add another
email address to your Mirramail user account. In fact, you can register as
many email addresses as you like to your Mirramail user account.
Of course, if the message was encrypted by a password you will
need the correct password to decrypt the message.
